Instagram This, Instagram That: Artifact Uprising

FOLLOW THEM ON INSTAGRAM

ARTIFACT UPRISING is my NEWEST obsession. I’ve made picture books on iphoto before and think they do an amazing job. But I’ve been thinking a lot about how to print my instagram photos and when I came across ARTIFACT UPRISING, I just had to share! They are a really neat company. They print on recycled paper and believe in sustainable practices and they are all about environmental responsibility. Check them out! I am currently working on my book, so I’m excited to see the finished product.

I am not a photographer, or ever inspire to be. I simply and ABSOLUTELY love taking pictures. From using our point and shoot PowerShot Canon Elph 300 HS to our favorite 50 mm Cannon SLR lens and most recently my iPhone camera. It’s fun for me to capture moments or the “moment”. It’s so special to me. Over the years I’ve learned that photographs have become so dear to me that they are probably one of my most valued possessions.

I don’t have any baby pictures of me. Not one. There are a few of my first two siblings and then non of me or my younger siblings. It’s not because my parents didn’t love us, or loved us less, not at all. My parents just never owned a camera. They were expensive. We were poor. To this day, my parents don’t own cameras, and it’s mainly now because they aren’t that tech savvy. Pictures started slowly appearing shortly after we immigrated to the STATES in the winter of 1989 from Mexico. Kindergarden and then a few scattered throughout the years.

One thing that I am thankful for is my papa was really into video. We had a few recorders growing up and to this day, whenever I see those home video of us kids, I tear up with joy or I fall on my a** from laughing so hard. Those were and FOREVER will be cherished. Anyway, so photographs. I promised myself when I was in elementary school that I would take lots of pictures of the family. So that when we were old and gray, we would have them to look back on and smile, show our grandchildren and share with others. And to this day, I’ve been the biggest paparazzi I’ve ever met! LOL

And this is why I LOVE taking pictures of the people around me, of the scene and environment around me and most importantly of things that make me HAPPY. I would say one of my favorite things to do is watching slide shows with my hubby of trips, adventures or events in our lives over the last couple of years. I have the worst memory sometimes, so looking back at pictures, I am again being retold the story (for the most part of how it happened). And all those happy feelings and memories are brought back by simply looking at a photograph or a collection of them. I am a FAN.

So what to do with all these pictures?! I went from being a child with hardly any pictures of us to having hundreds if not thousands of pictures on my desktop. I try and print and frame as many as I can, and I was doing great with the photo album thing, but the last couple of years I’ve slacked big time. I really love this putting your pictures into a book idea. I did that with our wedding photographs and loved it! They preserve great. So now I will do the same with my instagram images. I thought I would share!
